On Nov. 20, which is Universal Children’s Day, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) recommitted to helping protect the world’s most vulnerable children
Children who live with someone who has HIV or who are exposed to the infection are at a higher risk for developmental delays. These delays could threaten the children’s overall well-being and potential. It is important to interrupt this pattern before developmental delays impact the children.
Approximately 25 years ago, vulnerable children were promised that the world would do its best to protect and support their rights to live, learn, achieve their full potential, and be heard around the world. Today, old problems and new situations stand in the way of this goal. To solve the problems and address the situations, USAID has committed itself to a new analytical approach and new methods of action.
USAID, which receives funding from the U.S. Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, finances programs that are designed to protect children from HIV and AIDS.
