The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has issued a call for grant proposals as of Dec. 11 for those interested in furthering research on vaccines for treatment of HIV/AIDS.
The grant must focus upon vaccine engineering and development for treating HIV/AIDS, and may specialize in particular upon women infected with HIV/AIDS. The target population for the grant and research is not limited to the United States; the unique needs of Africa and those most susceptible in that country, are also subjects of interest of the research.
Additional requirements include scientific population studies, including existing vaccines that have been deployed but found to be less than effective. Research of this type should focus upon the composition of the vaccine and medically supported material and data that show why revisions to the vaccine are recommended. Scientifically founded, proved and evidence-based materials only will be accepted and considered for grant funds. Those advocating particular political, medical, drug-based and other approaches to treating HIV/AIDS are not targets for this program.
