Officials at the Health Ministry in Sri Lanka’s Western Province of Colombo recorded 750 dengue fever cases in October.

regions, Kalutara and Gampaha, were included with Colombo in a three-day mosquito control program conducted Nov. 12-14 after 12,337 possible mosquito breeding sites were identified. Another 1,369 breeding sites already had larvae in them.
The Ministry of Health, the Presidential Taskforce for Dengue, and National Dengue Control Unit joined with dengue control committees, public health workers, the Tri-Forces, and the police to carry out the program and inspect 62,079 areas for standing water sources that can serve as mosquito breeding sites. There were 2,566 people who were given notices to eliminate standing water sites and 443 people were confronted with legal action.
Statistics show that there have been 23,139 patients confirmed to have dengue fever in Sri Lanka 2015. There were 1,591 cases reported in August, 1,091 in September, and 1,961 in October. Overall, there has been a decrease in the number of dengue fever patients in Sri Lanka.
