The Global Fund recently developed an improved toolkit that will help health care workers provide human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and tuberculosis (TB) patients with improved differentiated care.
These investments are designed to improve the cost efficiency of HIV and TB programs and improve the service provided to communities that are most impacted by HIV and TB.
The toolkit was introduced at the International Conference of AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases in Africa (ICASA). It is meant to provide managers of country programs and health facilities with examples of how to practice medicine and care. The goal is to improve both the efficiency and quality of services.
There is a portion within the toolkit that explains the best way to use the information through precise data collection with differentiated care. There also must be accurate analysis to plan and improve the approaches within the toolkit.
Now, health care workers can use this practical application information to create better differentiated practices, whether the workers are involved in testing, counseling, caring or treating.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and The AIDS Support Organization in Uganda led the
toolkit’s development. It is founded on novel methods used in Kenya, Uganda, Senegal, and other places around the world.
