Officials with Hong Kong’s Center for Health Protection (CHP) recently released a report with the latest figures for dengue fever cases.
There was another dengue fever case confirmed between Feb. 4 and 11. This imported case involved a patient who had traveled in Indonesia and Singapore throughout the initial incubation period.
The CHP has been responsible for closely monitoring the ongoing dengue fever situation. It monitors the cases in Hong Kong, neighboring regions, and overseas.
On Feb. 11, Hong Kong health officials confirmed that there were 11 dengue fever cases for 2016, all of which were imported.
So far in 2016, there have been

in Japan; 366 in Taiwan; 3,198 in Singapore;
6,667 in Thailand; 219,593 in Mexico and 1.64 million in Brazil.
Health professionals encourage the public to sustain strict environmental hygiene, as this will cut back on the rates of the infections. Proactive measures to control the local mosquito population and protect personal space against mosquitoes are important.
“At present, there is no locally registered dengue vaccine available in Hong Kong,” a CHP spokesperson said. “Strict environmental hygiene, mosquito control and personal protective measures remain the most effective means against [dengue fever] both locally and during travel.”
