The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently made a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for its acceptance of applications to develop the B cells of an HIV-1 vaccine.
The goal of the FOA is to encourage multidisciplinary, hypothesis-driven research to better understand the complexities and plasticity of developing B cells for the vaccine. If successful, a B cell HIV-1/AIDS vaccine could provoke durable, potent, and adaptive immune response.
The application process for both HIV-1 and AIDS will open on February 17, 2016. The due date of the letter of intent is February 17, 2016.
The final application deadline for HIV is March 17, 2016 at 5 p.m. local time of the applying organization. All interested applicants should apply as early as possible. Applying earlier will allow them to correct any mistakes that are uncovered within the application, which is part of the submission process. All corrections must be completed by the deadline of March 17.
As for the AIDS vaccine and all other applications related to AIDS, the deadline is also March 17, 2016 at 5 p.m. local time of the organization that is applying. AIDS applicants are also asked to submit their applications as early as possible to allow time to correct any mistakes by the March 17 deadline.
