The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has collaborated with the World Health Organization, government agencies, and international and domestic partners to respond to the ongoing Ebola outbreak based in West Africa.

The partners have released a document that summarizes the important messages about the response to the outbreak, and the document will be regularly updated with new information.

There have been five or fewer Ebola cases each week for the last 12 weeks. The virus has been limited to a group of small areas located in Sierra Leone and western Guinea.

There have been 28,512 probably, suspected and confirmed Ebola cases as of Sunday. 15,242 of these cases have been confirmed by laboratories, and 11,313 people have died from the disease.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, organizations have made 1,930 deployments to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. For domestic and international organizations, there have been 3,090 deployments to support the response to Ebola.

People who are considered at risk for contracting the illness are those who are in close contact with a person who shows symptoms of Ebola. They should be held within controlled movements.
